“People have been chomping at the bit for the horses to return”, said LexArts president and CEO Jim Clark. ”So here they are for the 2010 Games.”
“The horses” are the 80 or so fiberglass horses to be extravagantly decorated by local artists and placed around the city next July. Horsemania 2010 is the encore appearance of a public art project which took the city by storm in 2000. In a tip of the hat to the international flavor of the Games, Horsemania 2010 will feature a horse from each of Lexington’s four sister cities – Deauville, France; County Kildare, Ireland; Shinhidaka, Japan; and Newmarket, England.
LexArts is looking for sponsors for 79 local horses ($5,000 each) and $7,500 each for the four sister city horses. Look for the call for artists this winter. More at www.lexarts.org

This was great the first time they did this.
This was my favorite city art project to come out of Lexington. I’m happy to see the horses will be back in the very near future!
I heard the four sister horses are sold already. I think they are going fast. Does anyone know how many are still available for sponsors?
There are almost HALF left! They need more sponsors!
Yes - you all should get into this. It’s a really amazing project -and with the Games coming, it’s going to be such a beautiful display for all the visitors. Go to lexarts.org and get one. They even have foals that are a little bit less expensive.
The horses hit the streets in July. This time LexArts is sponsoring Horse Play as well - Fayette County students are decorating 53 foals.
